THE BETTER ME SERIES:PT. 1 ... ORGANIZATION

…EVERYONE…the BETTER ME Series is HERE and open for business!!!! In my last blog, I mentioned that I would be starting a BETTER ME Campaign and I am proud to let you all know that I have begun the race! The BETTER MECampaign is designed to enforce self discipline on myself by encouraging me to do an activity that will enhance my life and better myself each week.

This week my BETTER ME focus was organization! This is a skill that I will always continue to improve. As I have mentioned before, I am trying to balance being a mother, student, entrepreneur and motivational speaker. In the midst of all of this I was able to successfully complete my very 1st Jewels, Inc., Summer Program at the Columbia Heights Youth Center. I have also taken on the challenge of Head Cheerleading Coach for the Columbia Heights Youth Center (Heat) and #10 Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington (Bison). In doing so, I have been able to organize my entire squad and have begun the planning stages to get all of my baby cheerleaders (5 -12 year olds) to a competition. In addition, PJ and I have moved into our first home and I have ventured on a three year journey with the Spirit of Faith Bible Institute to study ministry!!!My days have the tendency of becoming extremely hectic especially with all the things mentioned above and the unforseen activities that are to come.

My best bet was to organize the rest of my 2009 year the best way I saw fit. Now the true challenge begins because I have learned in recent years that things don’t always happen as I plan. I have to be careful . The blood in my veins is racing with anticipation awaiting what the rest of the '09 has to bring. The unexpected events of my mothers heart attack in September took my family and I by surprise. At that time all activities seized to exists.

So far her recovery has been a success and I have gone on with organizing the major projects that I have been working on for Jewels, Inc., my other business ventures (The Birth of Love Premier - a true success), and not even to mention the best thrill I have ever known….Peter James. PJ has moved back to Washington, D.C. after a LONG summer of going back and forth from St. Louis, MO, to Washington D.C. I have been so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends to care for him while I do what I have to do for the both of us…finish school! Now that I am done…he is here to stay.My organizational skills will truly be tested with PJ, my business events, studying for the LSAT (law school here I come!), working, and serving my community.

Being a SINGLE mother is time and a half plus another half ALL day everyday by itself! I pray that god grants me the strength to do all that I need to do in an organized fashion. I urge you all to do the same this week....ORGANIZE, an area of your life that you view to be a complete mess. Then let me know how Organization Betters You!

P.S. TODAY is definitely Sunday, September 27, 2009, which happens to be my best friend from high schools Happy 24th birthday! She is definitely getting OLD! And a happy belated to my baby brother who turned 17 last Sunday on the 20th! I LOVE YOU both soooo much! :)
